Kindergarten Where The Learning Is Fun

May 4, 2012
The class finished reading the big book, Smarty Pants. The story was about a clown. Ask your child to tell you what the clown did.
On Tuesday we went to the computer lab and did exciting things with Mrs. Parrott. On Thursday we took an AR test on the book Hey Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose.
In Math the children have been learning the numbers from one to 100. We are writing our numbers to 100. We have also been learning which number is larger and how to fill in the missing number on our worksheets. We have also done math lesson activities on the smart board.
We are once again making our special person books but this time we are writing the first and last name of the special person. The children love making these book. In writing we are also writing in our journals and drawing pictures to go with what we wrote. Every one loves journal writing.
We are writing a different letter of the alphabet each day. We have started back with A on writing our letters. We no longer trace the letters but are writing them by ourselves without any help. So far we have written A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, and R.
The Kindergarten Class buddies with the 5th grade class. Our 5th grade buddies made us Thanksgiving Cards and came down and read them to us. We really loved that. We email each other every day and We email the line leader's picture to the 5th grade every day. We take all of the books that we make and read them to our 5th grade buddies.
In reading we are doing a lesson from Michael Heggerty each day. We also do a lesson from our reading series and complete the workbook pages that go with the lesson. We do the workbook pages on our smartboard. We write a weather report on the smartboard and butter all of the popcorn words. We talk about the words that are in the weather report. We read the weather report and then post it on our web site. The weather report that we write is displayed on our Kindergarten Web Site and can be viewed at home and in the classroom.
On Friday we had doughnuts and pink lemonade. Mrs. Bunnage was gone to Kindergarten Orientation in the morning and when she came back she brought us the doughnuts and lemonade.
